We have a unique and exciting opportunity for an outstanding established / Senor Buyer with a solid background in CMT production and buying to oversee the growth of the Home and Fashion ranges. The candidate will be responsible for the strategic development and growth of the product ranges, from managing the team to developing commercial on- brand seasonal collections, to managing and growing the supply chain, driving the profitability of the department through margins. They will work closely with the Head of Merchandising to ensure good stock levels and timely launches in line with the company calendar.

The role:

Reporting directly to the General Manager and Directors the candidate delivers profitable departments, operating as a strategic business manager, overseeing the teams and their processes and demonstrating best practice. The candidate:

  • Analyses trading patterns, advises teams and ensures appropriate action is taken to unforeseen sales reactions.
  • Demonstrates views on current key trade activity that potentially impacts the company / brand.
  • Guides teams and agrees department strategies prior to Directors sign off.
  • Operates an effective / timely product sign off process, appropriate for product lead-time - “Buying Calendar”
  • Mentors their team, helping find solutions to issues encountered acting as trouble-shooter.
  • Displays an in-depth, customer-focused knowledge of market and trends.
  • Oversees range development – ensures that the product reflects the Brand strategy, the range is without gaps or duplication, and that the season is logically and commercially thought through
  • Ensures that the correct level of newness is present, and core lines are maximised and ‘moved on’ at the appropriate time.
  • Works with the Senior Management Team and Marketing Director to develop strong and consistent marketing messages / brand image
  • Agrees visual merchandising guidelines / fixturing / packaging with teams prior to Directors sign off – ensures they are implemented in a timely manner. Works closely with Retail team to agree layouts / fixturing / model store etc.
  • Develops a high performing team: defines and communicates clear vision of the future – translates into understandable goals and targets.
  • Provides positive leadership supporting brand / company policy / strategy and encourages others to do so.
  • Assists the General Manager in producing brand packs for Board review, presenting at meetings

Requirements:

  • Must have minimum 2 years experience at Established Buyer or higher Buyer level
  • Demonstrate a successful track record in managing and growing multi categories and products
  • Experience at managing a team of 6+ people
  • Experience in CMT production and working to critical paths
  • Sound range planning and negotiation skills
  • Excellent time-management skills with the ability to multi-task across projects
  • Creative and decisive: keen eye and instinct for trends, colors, styles
  • Ability to secure best prices, lead-times and conditions with suppliers
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment
  • Proactively/constantly identify new opportunities for the brand
  • Excellent written and verbal English communications
  • Self-motivated, proactive, organised and dedicated
  • Understand the positioning of the House of Hackney brand in the market and be ‘on brand’
