We are offering a Student Work Placement role for a Student undertaking their industry work placement who is passionate about the industry and wants to develop their organizing skills within in-house atelier department.  This is a full time role for students undertaking their required industy work-placement position, not for graduates.  Please note this is not a design Work Placement, but an Atelier Work Placement for students studying BA or MA undertaking their industry placement.
 
What you will be doing:

  • Preparing technical specs and sampling packs 
  • Ensure a model or freelancer are booked
  • Toiling fabric sourcing
  • Keep seasonal documents and up to date
  • Preparation for shooting, fashion show and sales campaign
  • Preparation for weekly fittings
  • Help to organise archiving process
  • General upkeep of the Atelier. 

Peferable skills:

  • Strong organizational skills
  • Effective communication skills
  • Keen eye for detail while working at a quick and efficient pace
  • Able to work off of own initiative both individually and within a team
  • Understanding of and flexible to the importance of deadlines
  • Understanding of creative design process
  • Problem solving skills  
  • Student level knowledge of Adobe Suite, Word and Excel 

What you'll learn / we will teach you:

  • Good opportunity to familiarize with relevant London retailers/suppliers
  • Knowledge of different draping skills
  • Pattern cutting and pattern alteration techniques
  • Confidence in fabric cutting techniques - (pattern markings etc.) required for a luxury brand
  • How to work with high quality and special development fabrics
  • Hand sewing/fit alterations in the lead up to show
  • Industry presentation practices
  • Knowledge of trim suppliers, factories/specialists in & around London
  • Good opportunity to familiarize with relevant London retailers/suppliers
  • A broad understanding of the running of a fashion atelier
