About: British-based and New Zealand born, spent her formative years in Milan and gained a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Fashion Design and Marketing at Central Saint Martin's London with Honours in 2007.

After graduating, Emilia worked at fashion houses Giorgio Armani, Proenza Schouler, Narciso Rodriguez and Vogue in New York and Milan. Before returning to London to establish her own label in 2008 by opening her first store in Belgravia.

Originally commencing as a made-to-measure atelier, Emilia’s collections are currently seasonal ready-to-wear and showcased at London Fashion Week from SS12.

Emilia Wickstead is stocked in retailers globally including Net-A-Porter, Selfridges, Matches, Harvey Nichols and Moda Operandi alongside of her flagship store which opened in 2014, on London’s Sloane Street.

We are offering a student Work Placement internsup for enthusiastic, driven fashion students to join the Emilia Wicsktead team for a mimimum of three months.  Based in our Notting Hill atelier, working alongside the bespoke and bridal coordinator, you will be a part of the daily running of the bespoke and bridal aspect of the business.  From sketches, presentations to fabric sourcing and coordinating with the flagship store and client fittings.
 
You will require impeccable attention to detail, organisation and initiative.

As a part of the Bespoke and Bridal team, your responsibilities would include:

  • Working closely with the bespoke and bridal coordinator
  • Photoshop, powerpoint, excel skills mandatory.  
  • Assisitng with provate client presentations - skethces, moodboards, fabric swatches.
  • Coordinating between the store and atelier.
  • Researching fabrics and trimmings in central London.
  • Assisting during London Fashion Week

Type of student we are looking for:

  • Undergraduate in fashion
  • Good understanding of fabrics
  • Good understandind of fashion
  • Good hand sewing, fabric cutting skills
  • Confident phootshop, illustrator, and sketching skills
  • Confident powerpoint, word and excel skills
  • Excellent layout and presentation, for private client presentations and artwork.
  • strong communication skills

What you will learn / what we will teach you:

  • You will be immersed in every side of the buisness, from the initial skethces through to delivering a finished product to the store.
  • You will gain understanding in bespoke consultations, presentations and fabrics 
  • You will see each garment being made first hand, and be able to ask questions about make and design all throughout the proces.
  • You will see Emilia's bespoke design process.
  • You will learn how to make perfect fabric samples for client presentation
  • Your understanding of bespoke finishings will be broadened.
  • During Fashion week you will get to see the entire process, learning how a show is put together and then being a part of the backstage team.

The company is happy to cover travel expenses withhin reason.
