All Nina’s pieces are made in her London atelier so that she can personally oversee every stage of production and ensure that each piece is finished to the highest quality and that the dresses are perfectly cut to compliment her clients.

Nina Naustdal is a luxury lifestyle brand creating Couture, Ready-to-wear, Children, Jewellery and Accessories collections designed and finished to the highest quality. The brand was established in 2011 and has consecutively held successful London Fashion Week shows bi-annually. The brand has a celebrity following and is a regular feature on the red carpet.

We are offering a fantastic Student Work Placement opportunity to get first-hand quality experience in the fashion industry at a couture level.  This is a very hands-on position based in a studio. You will be assisting designers with pattern cutting and manufacturing our show samples.  There will also be a focus on hand finishes and embellishments.

We are looking for a Student undertaking a Work Placement who is looking to learn and gain some experience in the fashion industry.  The role is varied and creative with the successful applicant receiving an excellent introduction to all aspects of the fashion industry from concept to the catwalk.  Working alongside the Design Assistants of the business, the Student can expect to be given full training from professionals to ensure the length of the placement becomes as beneficial as possible.

This is an unpaid Student Work Placement role and so we are looking for people studying on a fashion related course who have an interest in gaining some experience within a high-end couture label.  The Work Placement is based in London.  Minimum 1 month, Monday-Friday 9am-6pm.

Responsibilities and key activities:

  • Hand finishes
  • Making alterations for client dresses
  • Assisting with pattern cutting and amending patterns from alterations
  • Hand embroidery and beading
  • Manufacturing samples
  • Assisting with fittings

Profile:

  • Good pattern cutting skills
  • Student level machine sewing skills
  • Student level of understanding of high finishes on garments
  • Good fabric understanding
  • Student level hand sewing skills and an interest in hand embroidery and embellishment
  • Some experience with working with expensive and high-quality fabrics

What you will learn / we will teach you:

  • You will be immersed in every side of the business, from the initial sketches through to delivering a finished product to the client. 
  • You will see how each garment is designed and made by hands.
  • During Fashion week you will get to see the entire process, learning how a show is put together being a part of the backstage team. 
  • Embroidery techniques, feather and fur to fabric applications methods. 
  • The creative design process for collections (research, sketches, creation).
