About: HEMYCA is a luxury womenswear label based in East London. Designers Helen Clinch and Myra Nigris met whilst studying at the London College of Fashion. In 2009, after training with Roland Mouret and Ben de Lisi, the design duo launched the HEMYCA brand, with a vision of creating a globally recognised label synonymous with luxury and quality.

We are offering a Work Placement opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic student to work in a busy fashion environment assisting the designers with toiles and alterations.  Flexibility is required in the run-up to London Fashion Week shows.  Some experience of pattern cutting and garment making is essential.

As part of the team you will be able to experience all aspects of running a fashion label and gain a great overview of all processes including PR, Marketing, Design, Production, and Sales.

General tasks could include:

  • Pattern Cutting
  • Toiles, Sewing
  • Fabric and trim sourcing
  • Visiting factories
  • Production duties
  • Assist backstage during LFW.

What you will learn / we will teach you:

  • Experience of working in a busy fashion environment. In this way you would be able to see how an Atelier works and see how the other departments will interlock with the designer work.
  • You will be assisting the designer in the developement of the collection and will be able to learn and practice the process from the initial research to the toiling stages.
  • We would also teach you how to liasing with factories, prepare costings and work closely with the workers making the samples.
  • You will also be introduced to our made-to-measure/ bespoke service and you will be able to see the process from the start including attending client fittings to the finished garment.
  • You will learn about quality control and basics of production processes and customers allocation
