About: ZOO is an independent fashion and arts publication, with a focus on art, culture, fashion, cinema, travel and architecture. Founded in Berlin, 2003, ZOO has featured some of Germany's biggest talent as well as global stars such as Ben Kingsley, Amy Winehouse, Udo Kier, Helmut Berger, Hannelore Elsner, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Iggy Pop, Wim Wenders, to name a few.

ZOO Magazine, an unique quarterly style title for men and women, offering a Journalism and Editorial Sudent Work Placement for an enthusiastic and passionate Student undertaking their industry placement.  The Work Placement, based at our Amsterdam HQ, would be an excellent opportunity for a student to gain hands-on experience within an established, globally-oriented and pioneering arts and fashion publication, that, thanks to its exceptional and intelligent content and unparalleled production values, has been at the forefront of mainstream-defying publishing for the last decade.

You will also be involved in administrative support and research as well as answering phones, looking after visitors and a wide range of 'running' tasks one would expect in any office.  There is always room to discuss the period of the placement, but ideally you would be available for at least three months to get the most out of the role.


  • Journalism or fashion studies Student
  • Fluent in English, and excellent with spelling and grammar
  • Strong interest in fashion, art and photography 
  • Serious knowledge of main social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram)
  • Knowledge of Adobe suite (Photoshop, Indesign, Illustrator) 
  • Previous experience in working in a similar role would be an advantage 
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn 
  • High level of English 
  • German and Dutch would be beneficial, but not essential 
  • Able to work in a fast-paced environment 
  • Able to work under pressure
  • No 9 till 5 mentality 
  • A flexible attitude is a must
  • Being capable to work individually 
  • A driven teamplayer

  • You will learn how to work for an independent publishing house and unconditional work environment.
  • You will learn how to prioritise your daily tasks and manage your own time and your varied tasks under time pressure. 
  • You will learn about our magazine, adapting to our style and our brand. 
  • Learn how to manage different platforms online, such as social media, website and print. 
  • You will learn how to liaise and establish relationships with brands we collaborate with.
  • How to write articles for print, social media and website as well as how to conduct interviews.
