About: Berlin based label, BRACHMANN offers a stylish, contemporary reinterpretation of menswear and womenswear classics “for a modern Don Draper role” (Trendhunter). With a strong signature educated by architecture, the label deconstructs and reforms classic luxury staples, playing with hybrids, silhouettes and details. Taking inspiration from the Bauhaus style, contemporary art and popular culture, we synthesise progressive design, fit and luxury, natural fabrics in our post-classical collections. BRACHMANN creates a cohesive apparel line of purist urban chic for the contemporary wearer who seeks creative expression in individually reinterpreted classics.

BRACHMANN shows its collections at both Berlin Fashion Week and Paris Fashion Week. With fashion press celebrating BRACHMANN as “THE ONE TO WATCH label from Germany” (KALTBLUT Magazine S/S 2015). In 2016, the label was nominated for the International Woolmark Prize by the Fashion Council Germany.

We are offering internship positions to support our designer team with the development of our RTW collection S/S 2019 to start on 1st March 2018 (minimum 3 Months, maximum 6 Months)

The ideal candidate would be a fashion design student at BA or MA level skilled and experienced in the areas below:

  • Design development
  • Pattern making and alternation
  • machine and hand sewing
  • technical drawings
  • Knowledge of Adobe Suite is a plus

In addition to those skills, you are a smart working person with good communication skills, a positive, enthusiastic attitude to work, used to self-organize your work. You also have an eye for detail and can work with both speed and accuracy even when under pressure to meet deadlines.

Your Key Responsibilities include:

  • Producing sewing samples and small pattern alterations under guidance
  • General organisation and upkeep of the atelier
  • Assisting in styling, photo shooting, and show

What you will learn / we will teach you:

  • How a RTW collection is produced and presented
  • How to improve pattern drafting, pattern alterations and garment construction for menswear and womenswear.
  • How to synthesize the label's signature aesthetic and contribute to the design process
  • How to carry a concept through to a final collection, through research and innovative design
  • The importance of fabric selection, colour palettes and fabric compositions

You will work directly with the designer. The office hours are from Monday till Friday, from 9am-6pm with a lunch break. Lunch expenses are covered. The studio is centrally located in Berlin, near Schloss Charlottenburg. The internship is unpaid and is aimed at fashion design students studying courses that require a compulsory internship in the industry.
