The nuts and bolts

The Product Merchandising Team are a small team consisting of the Merchandising Manager and Assistant Merchandiser who report into the Merchandising Director so this will be a hands-on role. The candidate will report into the Merchandising Manager. The Product Merchandising intern will support the Product Merchandising Department on a mixture of project work and general supporting functions.
 
The Hard Accessories PD Team is a small but busy department so it will be an engaging role with a mixture of admin, project work and general supporting functions. The Product Development Intern’s role is to support their line manager (Junior PD) and product development team, driving them forward through the creation of new seasonal development.
The intern will work closely with other interns within the business. In addition, there will be contact with external courier services and where applicable, the Hunter supply and factory base over email and exposure to Design prototype reviews throughout the season.

The Person

Being a split team role, the ideal person for this role is highly organised, agile and proactive. Accuracy and attention to detail is also imperative.
They would have strong communication skills, both written and oral, and are interested in product design & development, the supply chain, buying and retail.  In addition, you would have confidence with IT and the basic office software packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc) and it is preferable to have knowledge of adobe packages. You will have a keen interest in fashion and enjoy researching new brands, keeping on top of trends and a keen user of social media.

Key Responsibilities of this Internship would include:
 
POs, Postal and Whole Office administrative support

  • There will be a team of Interns throughout the business who share a rota of office housekeeping tasks, including:
  • Raising Purchase Orders for the PD Team and updating the tracker on a weekly basis
  • Taking responsibility for tidying of allocated team areas
  • Reception cover, answering the main office phone, meeting and greeting visitors when requested
  • As a rota with the rest of the Interns, any incoming deliveries will be signed for and recipients notified in good time.
  • Planning, preparation and participation in company-wide Hunter events and programs, including Sales Conference support.
  • Keeping the kitchen (which is used as a meeting space) in a presentable state, including upholding a dishwasher rota as assigned by line manager
  • Ensuring that all recycling is bagged correctly and that the office manager is alerted of any recycling pick-ups that need to be booked. 

Product Merchandising – 3 days a week
 
Price Architecture Grids

  • Ownership of the seasonal price grids for all categories in 5 main currencies
  • Responsible for initial setup and maintenance 

Competitor Benchmarking

  • Ownership of the seasonal competitor benchmarking on all key new product launches

 
Swatchbooks and Fabric Books

  • Co-ownership of these sales tools along with the Product Development Intern
  • Ensure project stays on the critical path timeline
  • Liaise with the external supplier/s
  • Help to collate fabrics 

General

  • Providing excellent daily support to the Product Merchandising Team
  • Weekly newsletter on key competitor’s social media activity and products that they are launching
  • Responsible for creating seasonal product boards
  • Assist with the Hard Accessories product merchandising area from briefing stage to market launch
  • Consolidate regional market feedback
  • Any ad hoc duties for merchandising department 

 
 Hard Accessories Product Development Team – 2 days a week
 
Providing daily support to Product Teams e.g.:

  • Co-ordinating sample management. Unpacking and tagging samples, daily couriering of samples to and from external stakeholders, keeping an accurate log of all bookings and updating team on tracking progress
  • Assisting with Proto Meeting support. I.E printing tech-packs, measuring and photographing samples prior to meeting, prepare room and ensure samples are available and ready for PD and Design Team.
  • Assisting developers with sample comments during proto reviews 

Colour Development

  • Assisting JPD with colour/print responsibilities
  • Helping to create and facilitate final seasonal material and colour swatch books for Sales teams

 
Wear Trial Co-ordination

  • Co-ordinating the Hunter product wear trial process, in partnership with the Junior Product Developer
  • Managing the samples incoming and outgoing, including emails, feedback and deliveries are received back in on time
  • Collating feedback and presenting back findings to the developer and technologist.

Sample and Materials Library and Database maintenance

  • Maintaining the upkeep of product storage cupboard onsite, and the product storage unit offsite. This entails regularly clearing out samples with the aim to help organise and assist in office sample sales, and organise recycling to keep the work-space free for the current development seasons products.
  • Liaising closely with the marketing team for the seasonal samples photo shoots curating clear packing lists. Updating product notes for collection conference as requested. 
  • Creating and maintaining materials, trim and hardware libraries throughout the seasons’ development. Ensuring new swatches and samples are logged, filed and available to Design and PD.
