The Print Team at Mary Katrantzou is offering a Student Work Placement for enthusiastic and highly motivated students undertaking their industry work placement to join the team for the months leading upto the AW20 Commercial collection and surrounding projects.  This role would suit a creative, enthusiastic and hard-working student who wants to apply their technical print knowledge in a professional environment.  Only students undertaking an industry work placment as part of their course can be accepted. 

Working closely with all members of the Print Design Team, this position is dynamic, challenging and will cover the following tasks: 

  • Visual research
  • Assisting in the development of new or existing artworks towards the AW20 Commercial collection and any artworks for special projects that the brand might undertake in this period
  • Development of fabrications including (but not limited to) Jacquard, Lace, Leather work, Knitwear and assisting with embroidery placements if required. 
  • As the internship progresses, Interns will be expected to assist with the converting of patterns and basic print placements.
  • Assisting in daily errands and assisting various other departments when needed

Candidates must possess the following skills or have previous experience with the below:

  • Strong Student level Photoshop and Illustrator skills
  • A good understanding of garment construction and how patterns are put together
  • A Student portfolio that displays a good taste level in basic print placement
  • A working Student level technical knowledge of repeat prints and how to create a basic repeat tile
  • Good communication skills and eagerness to to learn and help where needed
  • Professional attitude and punctuality 
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Good communication and an interest in working as a member of a dynamic team
  • Enthusiasm to learn on the job and high motivation to contribute to the team
  • A keen interest to learn and be taught new processes and techniques

What you will learn / We will teach you: 

  • You will learn how to carry out proper visual research for artworks and print
  • Candidates will be taught Photoshop techniques and Photoshop rendering
  • A stronger understanding for the fundamentals of Print Design
  • The infrastructure of how a Design Studio works and how the collection develops across the given season.
