Whilst undertaking your Student Work Placement you will be working closely with the design team.  This industry work placement opportunity will be suited for a Student with an interest in patterns, garment construction and the chance to experience the daily working life in a studio.

What you will be doing:

  • Tracing off patterns neatly with appropriate markings and labels
  • Cutting fabric for toiles and sample garments
  • Working with a range of fabrics
  • Assisting the organising of fabrics and patterns to send out for production
  • General studio support, including off site tasks/errands 

Profile:

  • An enthusiastic positive attitude
  • Organisation and communication skills
  • Student level experience with tracing patterns and sewing toiles
  • Student level experience working with a range of fabrics from organza to velvet.
  • Confident travelling through London in order to carry out tasks
  • Ability to work in a team

 
What you will learn / we will teach you:

  • How to correctly organise toiles, samples and fabric to send to factories
  • A strong knowledge and understanding of pattern cutting
  • Technical skills, specifically sewing, making trims and cutting fabric correctly
  • You will gain a hands on experience of how a small studio prepares a collection for fashion week
  • A better understanding of garment construction
  • You will gain an insight into how a collection is prepared for production
