By supporting and assisting the Garment Technologist and working closely with the Design, Buying and Supplier/Manufactures you will ensure consistent premium product quality is developed directly at source which is fully aligned with the business and department objectives having a well-developed understanding of the target customer.

Key responsibilities

Assist the creation of technical specifications released to suppliers for the Ready to Wear collections, working closely with the Senior Garment Technologist, supporting to find solutions and efficiencies in product development.
Building positive relationships with peers, cultivating partnership at all times with Suppliers. Demonstrating an understanding and implementing the L.K. Bennett brand values at all times.

Technical Development & Quality Assurance:

  • Supports administration to communicate technical product specifications including; fabrications, yarns and components, grading and product construction standards.
  • Works closely with the Garment Technologist, to ensure products are engineered to achieve the lowest possible cost whilst maintaining product value and premium quality standards.
  • Assist the Garment Technologist with ‘Best Practice’ product development and performance, to include guidance on product aftercare labelling and guidelines for e-com.
  • Promotes ‘Right First Time’ approach to sealing submission.
  • Assists in the sealing process – supporting fit programs for the Technical department to ensure achievement of the Buying critical path and delivery schedules required by the business for all markets.
  • Coordinating the wearer trial program of new seasonal developments.
  • Coordinates Model (Garment) bookings in line with weekly fit sessions, communication of fit session priorities.

Quality Assurance & Control:

  • Working closely with the Technologist, Design and Buying team, to maintain continuity of premium product standards across supply base and product type in line with differing fabrications/yarns identifying and analysing problems to influence key decisions taken by the business within the season to translate the needs of the Design and Buying team into the delivered product.
  • Regularly communicates and visits the L.K. Bennett distribution centre with Garment Technologist to ensure consistent quality assured standards are maintained.
  • Assists the Garment Technologist to identify the need for supplier evaluation, monitoring through product analysis i.e. returns/faulty product to identify generic and specific quality issues, applies lessons learned.
  • Assists the Garment Technologist in follow-up of corrective action on all rejected merchandise – communicating with customer services, colleagues and suppliers to ensure appropriate cost recovery is achieved.
  • Visits branches and competitors sharing observations and lessons learnt with peers and colleagues enabling better understanding of customer expectations, makes informed decisions to achieve department goals.

Supplier Management:

  • Develops close working relationships with all Suppliers to improve understanding of industry standards of manufacturing technologies, gaining knowledge of machinery and construction methods from peers and supplier/manufacturers across multiple product areas.
  • Supports colleagues and peers to ensure policies and procedures are followed for quality assurance and ethical trading.

Critical path:

  • Adapts to reflect changing circumstances with support and guidance from the Garment
  • Technologist to ensure the Technical department objectives and business priorities are met.
  • Assists in the sealing process – supporting fit programs for the Technical department to ensure achievement of the Buying critical path and delivery schedules required by the business for all markets
  • Assists by updating the business-critical path documentation with all information for and from fit meetings with product development status.
