Samuel Gui Yang is looking for a proactive, detail-oriented Assistant Product Developer with a strong interest in garment construction, product development, and fashion manufacturing to join our team in London.
In this fast-paced role, the Assistant Product Developer will support the development process from sourcing through to Salesman Samples (SMS), working closely with the creative and PD team, suppliers, and factories to ensure products are developed accurately and on schedule. This will include daily Tech Pack development and related management.
Suitable applicants will have a solid understanding of garment construction and be confident in translating design concepts into clear and accurate technical specifications for factories and suppliers.
Key Responsibilities of the Assistant Product Developer
Sourcing:
Assist in building seasonal libraries for fabrics, trims, and garment components.
Ensure sourced materials meet the brand’s quality, design, and cost expectations.
Product Development & Tech Pack Management:
Support the garment development process from initial concept through to SMS.
Develop, update, and maintain detailed Tech Packs on a daily basis.
Translate design concepts into accurate technical specifications, construction details, and development notes.
Ensure all Tech Packs are clear, commercially accurate, and ready for factory use.
Work closely with the design and production teams to ensure product accuracy and consistency throughout development.
Prototyping & Fittings:
Coordinate prototypes, mock-ups, and sample developments.
Track timelines and ensure development deadlines are met.
Assist with fit comments and updates following fittings.
SMS Management:
Support the Salesman Sample process to ensure samples are completed accurately and on time.
Monitor sample quality and readiness for internal and external presentations.
Data & Production Workflow Management:
Maintain accurate development records and product information.
Manage workflows and ticketing through Zedonk and internal systems for development and production
Production data, PO and SO management
Supplier & Factory Communication:
Liaise daily with factories and suppliers regarding developments, timelines, and production updates.
Support communication between the UK creative team and overseas manufacturing partners.
What Samuel Gui Yang is looking for…
Required:
At least 1 year's experience within fashion product development, production, or manufacturing.
Strong understanding of Tech Pack development and garment construction
Understanding of garment construction, fabrics, and fashion terminology.
Proficient with Excel
Working knowledge of Illustrator and Photoshop.
Willingness to travel seasonally for business trips when required.
Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Strong attention to detail with a “right first time” mentality.
Clear and professional communication skills.
Positive, proactive, and adaptable approach to work.
Willing to work as a team and help each department when needed
Fluent English communication skills
Legal right to work in the UK.
Beneficial:

Knowledge of pattern cutting or garment structure
