About: DES VU is a premium streetwear clothing and accessories brand for young, aspirational women. It is a fast-growing brand, that successfully operates a "shop the drop" business model.

We are looking for a passionate Fashion Design and Production Assistant with experience working in young women’s fashion.  This role will suit a talented junior-level designer with an eye for spotting new streetwear trends and experience working in a product development capacity.  This person must be a team player, who will live and breathe our brand, helping to develop a strong aesthetic and direction for the product.

The Design and Production Assistant will report directly into one of the Founders in this family run business and will be responsible for a variety of design-oriented tasks, including the administration of the product development process.

We are a hands-on, close-knit team, with an ambitious and fast-paced culture, looking for a creative and commercially minded individual who loves fashion, to join us.  This position is based in Surbiton.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Researches/identifies key trends, shapes, fits, colour, fabrication, and newness for the customer, within the brand perimeters
  • Reacts to sales information and customer data to propose commercially relevant design ideas and concepts
  • Advises on product direction, construction, key details, materials, branding and trims
  • Creates mood boards
  • Gains buy-in from the Team and relevant Influencers to new trends and product ideas
  • Helps to CAD up ranges and graphics, as required
  • Understand tech packs and how these translate into sample products
  • Acts as point of contact to manage outsourced design and graphics
  • Communicates sampling and order details to suppliers
  • Monitors and manages the product and design critical path, to ensure product deliveries meet deadlines
  • Spots potential problems and advises regarding delays
  • Seeks advice and acts accordingly to remedy problems in design and production
  • Seeks and facilitates the approval from the Founders of component product parts
  • Provides admin support for design, fabric, trim, lab-dip, strike-off and sample approvals
  • Provides admin support for fit and quality approval processes
  • Confirms and raises orders according to instruction

About You:

  • 2 years' minimum experience designing for an aspirational brand
  • Experience in womenswear fit, fabrics, branding and graphics
  • Competent user of Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Fashion-forward perspective
  • High level of attention to detail
  • Strong time management
  • Confidence to identify problems and make suggestions for improvement, seeking practical ways to overcome barriers
  • Able to understand the customer and clearly communicate ideas levelled at the customer

Package:

  • Competitive salary
  • 25 days holiday per annum plus bank holidays (pro rata)
  • Hybrid working model – Office based for at least 3 days per week.
