We have a unique opportunity within our business; we are looking for a Garment Technologist who is engaged and excited by our brand.
The role is based in our design studio in Long Eaton near Nottingham.
Your core responsibilities will be:
As a Garment Technologist, you will be working within a team to organise the production of approved prototypes through liaison with designers and specific factories. You will also be required to provide our Production team with information at ‘pre-production’ stage and to assist with all technical aspects of garments produced by the design department.
The role will include, but not be limited to:
Translate design sketches into workable technical construction notes and diagrams through communication with design and factories.
Ensure the design team’s designs are not compromised and interpreting the design aesthetic from sketch into reality while engineering product to optimise efficient manufacturing and maximise profitability.
Collaborate with the team to create and maintain the size and fitting standards library with the ownership of blocks, grade rules and size charts etc.
Maintain the consistency of fit, models size, how to measure guides and mannequin standards to ensure consistency with fit for all products and provide information to design and Production in and out of house.
Work on patterns and where able to consult with the pattern cutters at factories to achieve the required pattern.
Liaise with specific factories to produce prototypes made to design and factory requirements and to chase these prototypes when needed.
Research trims, interlinings etc., for these prototypes.
Ramain aware of specific factory equipment, machinery, and restrictions.
Complete trim information for new styles each season for sampling and costing purposes.
Oversee with Design team prototype and sample fitting sessions to make accurate notes relating to garment construction.
Alter and update technical construction details as required and provide a complete and accurate file with each new style as required to deadlines.
The specific technical elements of the Product Technical Specification Package, creating and managing the construction details, size charts, key technical areas, including packaging information.
Assist in chasing and checking sample garments as they return from factories and are picked as technical/production samples.
Prepare notes and new style samples for production purposes and attend relevant pre- production meetings with factories.
Organise re-sampling prior to production to improve specific technical problems found during sampling and inform production departments if re-sampling is needed.
Liaise with factories during sampling as needed regarding construction of garments. To maximise performance of quality and collaborate with production and product development to achieve the required margin targets.
Assist with collection preparation, as necessary.

The candidate will have the following skills/experience:
At least 3 years’ experience in similar role(s)
Clothing manufacturing background.
Exceptional knowledge working with a critical path.
Used to working in a fast-paced environment and have a proactive approach to tasks.
Super organised; ability to plan, schedule and collaborate with all relevant stakeholders.
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proficient with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Illustrator
