Life’s a Beach is looking for a freelance Graphic & Apparel Designer to help develop the next generation of the brand.
Originally established in California in the 1980s, Life’s a Beach has a strong heritage in surf, skate and street culture, with a visual identity built around bold graphics, irreverent attitude and distinctive artwork.
We are looking for someone who understands that history but can also push the brand forward in a contemporary and original way.
The role will involve working across T-shirts, hoodies, sweats, outerwear and accessories, developing original graphics, typography, logo treatments, garment concepts and collection ideas.
Responsibilities of the Graphic & Apparel Designer:
- Creating original apparel graphics and artwork
- Developing typography, logo treatments and supporting brand assets
- Creating garment concepts, placements and colourways
- Working with archive references and reinterpreting them appropriately
- Producing garment mock-ups and presentation flats
- Preparing print-ready production artwork
- Understanding screen print, distressed print, vintage print and embroidery applications
- Contributing ideas for capsules, collaborations and seasonal collections
- Working with the wider creative and production team where required
What BrandLabX is looking for:
- A strong fashion, streetwear or graphic design portfolio
- A good understanding of surf, skate, music and street culture
- Strong typography and illustration skills
- Excellent Photoshop and Illustrator skills
- Understanding of apparel production and print techniques
- A strong eye for proportion, placement and colour
- Ability to work independently and respond quickly to briefs
- The aesthetic should feel authentic, graphic, irreverent and culturally credible.
- Experience with AI creative tools is a plus.
We are particularly interested in designers who understand the visual language of brands such as Stüssy, Supreme, Palace and vintage surf/skate labels, while still being able to create original work rather than simply imitate existing brands.
