At Vollebak, we use science and technology to make clothes from the future.  From our Full Metal Jacket made with 11km of copper, to t shirts made from wood and black algae, every product we make reflects our 100% focus on innovation. We’ve established a reputation for pushing the boundaries of clothing design and material technology, and we’re now looking for a talented pattern cutter / machinist to join our team on a freelance basis, working 3 days a week.

This role will be an integral part of our design team and will involve working closely with our Design Director and Chief Creative Officer. We’re looking for someone with exceptional technical knowledge and experience of garment construction, pattern cutting, blocks and fits, and textiles across multiple menswear categories. 

The experience and skills we’re looking for include:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in sophisticated pattern cutting and garment construction, including working with digital patterns
• Able to interpret design sketches/images into first patterns 
• Extensive experience of creative draping on the stand from a sketch
• Able to select the best methods for pattern adjustments to achieve desired look and fit 
• Able to develop blocks and fits across all menswear clothing categories 
• Strong knowledge of fabrics, including fusibles, stretch properties, lining constructions and gradings
• Able to create and maintain accurate measurement lists, grading information and other key information
• Good time management skills, with an ability to meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure 
• Strong team-player with a robust, can-do attitude.
