Overview:

  • Product Development Assistant needed for RAGYARD (initial 6 months contract)
  • We are looking for a multi-product, unisex fashion product developer with 1-3 years experience to assist with the product development of our RAGYARD brand. A love of vintage is key. 
  • This role handles all New Product Development pre-production for 4 seasons' collections per year of global premium wholesale. The role will encompass assisting with every element of preparing the collections from concept through to design, sourcing, trim development, fabric selection and entering all costings into ZEDONK - our internal production system. 
  • Print design features as a strong part of the RAGYARD DNA and so ideally the candidate has a grasp of Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop. Similarly, we develop a lot of applique and embroidery techniques and so experience of creating artwork for these varied applications would be desirable.
  • Great supplier management and communication is essential, as is working as part of a small, but passionate team in North London. 
  • You will be working alongside and reporting directly to the Ragyard Design and Product Development Manager and will be encouraged to become involved in all elements of brand development as part of our brand team.

Job Purpose:

  • To contribute to growth of the business by undertaking brand appropriate, commercial product development
  • Support the Ragyard Design and Product Development Manager as appropriate in all commercial product design and development across quarterly collections for global wholesale to satisfy brand guidelines and feedback from key agent partners.
  • Support the Business founder / Creative Director and Ragyard Design and Product Development Manager to ensure all product development activities allocated are actioned effectively and appropriately, both on-time and in-line with the delivery of the strategic plans, business culture and margin targets.
  • To monitor of product development through testing, sample, fit and preproduction stages, liaising with sample room and quality teams where appropriate, to ensure delivery of correct brand positioning, style and design details.
  • To create fast, commercial product development technical information packs in a clear and professional manner in order to facilitate internal and external sampling.
  • To grow the Ragyard business by attending regular customer meetings and internal brand development meetings and building strong relationships with focus on commercial interpretation of design ideas and follow up of agreed actions and deadlines.
  • To ensure selected styles are suitable for the supply base capabilities at all times and maintain delivery of margin targets through continual awareness of the supply base and focused sourcing.
  • To keep streamlined accurate, real time records and digital files for all work in line with business process strategy and systems including Zedonk product management system.
  • To ensure adequate and detailed hand over to the appropriate production team members once collections have been signed off. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provision of fast, commercial product development technical information and packs, related research, drawing support, images, along with focused sourcing of fabrics and trims for design packs; facilitating growth in wholesale and retail business to target, in line with briefing from the Ragyard Design and Product Development Manager.
  • Clarify and resolve product development issues, delivering ideas and proposals to deadlines, satisfying customer needs and building business growth and margin potential.
  • Adhere to commercial product development processes & systems – provide transparency of all work status and gather report data for the management team.
  • Liaising with the Ragyard Design and Product Development Manager on target pricing. Attending weekly internal product development meetings and ensuring the production team is given full and complete information for each style and attend to any issues which arise.
  • Maintaining existing and building new contacts with blank garment, trim and fabric suppliers to give product edge and relevance to the Ragyard brand
  • Ensuring suitable availability (within lead time expectations) of both sampling and bulk fabric and trim.
  • Ensure all new styles are explained fully to pattern cutters to avoid repetitive work and ensure fast response. Work with the appropriate garment tech on fits and approvals throughout the pre-production process.
  • Maintain market and competitor knowledge – ensure all product development work is relevant to market and trend and in line with briefs from the Ragyard Design and Product Development Manager
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the business in line with the growth strategy via the Growth and
  • Learning Committee feedback forum and company events.
