Mowalola is looking for a proactive, solution-focused, collaborative Production Assistant to join the team in London. This is a highly hands-on role requiring strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work across multiple categories and timelines simultaneously.
The Production Assistant is a highly hands-on role that supports the team across product development and production, serving as a key liaison among design teams, factories, suppliers, and internal departments.
Suitable applicants will have a minimum of 2 years' relevant experience in fashion production and/or product development and will understand both the creative and technical sides of garment development.
Key Responsibilities of the Production Assistant
Product Development:
Support the transition from design to development, ensuring all design details are clearly communicated to factories, pattern cutters, and samplers.
Work closely with the design team on garment development across multiple categories.
Assist in creating, updating, and maintaining tech packs, BOMs, measurement charts, and construction details.
Support product costing processes by tracking raw material and garment prices prior to production launch.
Coordinate pattern updates and maintain accurate records across teams and suppliers.
Source and organise fabrics, trims, labels, hardware, and samples while maintaining organised supplier and material libraries.
Prepare fitting notes, attend fittings, capture detailed comments, and communicate corrections clearly to factories and pattern cutters.
Support sample tracking and ensure all development stages are progressing according to timeline.
Assist in overseeing interns and delegating tasks where necessary to support workflow efficiency.
Production:
Maintain daily communication with factories, mills, and suppliers regarding development and production updates.
Track bulk production timelines, delivery dates, approvals, and quantities across all styles.
Manage and update production trackers, overviews, and internal systems including Zedonk.
Raise purchase orders for samples, raw materials, trims, and bulk production.
Support factory visits and PPS fittings when required.
Assist with barcoding, packaging, labelling, and external quality control processes.
Review measurement charts and size specifications with the Production Manager before bulk sign-off.
Support logistics coordination, stock tracking, and delivery management.
Ensure all informal communication and approvals are properly documented and transferred into structured records and email threads.
Cross-Department Support:
Work closely with design, sales, e-commerce, logistics, and external suppliers to ensure smooth communication across all stages of development and production.
Maintain organised filing systems for fabrics, trims, samples, tech packs, suppliers, and costing sheets.
Participate in post-sales and cancellation meetings to assess style viability and production planning.
What Mowalola is looking for:
A minimum of 2 years' relevant experience within fashion production and/or product development.
Understanding garment construction, measurements and fittings, and supporting the progression of collections from concept through to production.
Experience working directly with factories and suppliers across development and production.
Confidence working with tech packs, BOMs, fitting notes, and specification sheets.
Strong understanding of garment construction, measurements, grading, fabrics, trims, and manufacturing processes.
Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple styles simultaneously.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills
Detail-oriented, proactive, and solutions-focused.
Personal Attributes
Highly organised and dependable.
Experience with Zedonk or similar systems is a plus.
