What you will be doing…

You will  develop high quality new product in collaboration with the design and buying teams.  Through the application of expert knowledge, clear communication and practical ways of working ensure that standards and legal requirements are fully met. You will constantly challenge how we work to drive speed and value. Knowledge of Childrenswear safety regulations and risk assessment is key to this role. Delight our customers with perfect fit and quality.  You will be able to manage a diverse workload, to priorities effectively and monitor work through to it natural conclusion.

You will also:

  • Be a team player, must be approachable and personable. To be self- motivating, confident and demonstrates a ‘can do attitude’.
  • Create technical product packs with design team and working with offshore offices/factories to facilitate production of development samples, ensuring the safety compliance, fit and garment construction methods are maintained to a high standard for our customer.
  • Responsible to develop and maintain block or specification library for all relevant products.
  • Have knowledge and ability to confidently fit garments on the body and stand, to clearly communicate to team members and suppliers on how to fix the fit and make issues by applying your technical expertise.
  • Work closely and proactively with all the product teams, sourcing regions and suppliers.
  • Empower the regional teams and suppliers to support the approval process as necessary.
  • Minimise the number of fit samples required – right first-time attitude.
  • Set quality standards and work with suppliers / factories to achieve these.
  • Take responsibility for critical path events and working to find solutions to challenges.
  • Problem solving within the team and support the Technical Manager in all areas of his/her responsibility.
  • Driving change and introduce new ways of working to be efficient in all aspects.
  • Impact on strategy within team / given area.

What you will bring...

Enthusiasm and knowledge to the role.  You will be experienced working with Designers and Buyers and a wider technical team, including across offshore offices and you will ideally have gained this experience in a fashion retailer. This role will be mainly focused on Childrenswear however, additional experience in Menswear would be an advantage.

In addition we are looking for:

  • Hands on technical skills in multiple childrenswear categories, with the ability to develop this into other areas. 
  • Must have an understanding of product specification; construction /quality standards and applicable testing.
  • A good understanding of manufacturing capabilities and limitations in their area of responsibility
  • Ability to conduct a factory visit and assess product quality highlighting areas of concern
  • Someone who can guide and advise junior team members in a technical and personal development capacity
