Sustainability Assistant – Supply Chain at ASOS sits within the Responsible Sourcing Team. Working closely with the Responsible Materials Team, the Sustainability Team – Supply Chain is all about supporting ASOS to be the 1st to market in fashion with innovative sustainable fabrics & materials that not only look great but are produced within a sustainable supply chain.

You will be part of the business agenda on ‘Fashion with Integrity’ supporting both product and supply chain sustainability. This encompasses yarns, fabrics & materials, manufacturing processes and environmental compliance with customer engagement.  Working closely with all the retail teams and suppliers, our mission is to ‘change our buying habits so our customers don’t have to’.

What you’ll be doing…

  • Review and support our strategy for internal and external sustainability processes, systems and tools and ensure these are robustly implemented through our suppliers
  • Support the Responsible Materials Team & the Responsible Supply Chain Established Partner to build supply chain transparency and traceability.
  • Support and review the ASOS supply chain carbon & water strategy and roadmap denim water usage as a priority with a view to making improvements using EMIO Scoring Systems.
  • Support onboarding the sustainability process for all new regions within the business strategy.
  • Through Supply Chain Mapping identify areas of risk informing & developing the ASOS Fashion with Integrity strategy.
  • Monitoring supplier performance by gathering relevant supply chain data, gap analysis and producing clear succinct reports.
  • Visual reporting on supply chains performance regularly updating the Head of Responsible Materials regularly.
  • Collaborate with sustainability working groups such as HIgg Index, SAC, Canopy & LWG to manage benchmarking and risk assessment across ASOS supply chain.
  • Building strong relationships with external working groups and NGOs.
  • Use & develop ASOS tools and resources to build supply chain transparency specific to the business changing needs.
  • Creating guides, tools, resources, manuals for suppliers throughout the supply chain to support reduction in their environmental footprint working closely with the ASOS Fabric, Technical and Compliance teams.
  • Engage suppliers and buying teams on current business risks and priorities through your Head Of.
  • Regularly collect and present market intel with competitor’s activities and sustainability progress fit for the Retail Teams.
  • Keeping up to date with industry developments and sectoral risks and adapting sustainability programme accordingly
  • Managing the sustainability intern
  • Support the development ASOS Fashion with Integrity profile internally and within our supply chain through training programmes.
  • Support business targets for sustainable fabrics and materials improving internal process to fold in the certification processes
  • Support colleagues in responding to external reporting needs where needed for ASOS Plc website, NGO’s or marketing activities.
  • Put the customer at the heart of all that you do.
  • Think creatively and be product minded with a good
  • Work alongside Fabric Sourcing to build relationships with yarn & fabric mills to drive consolidation and cost saving KPI’s.
  • Be aware and contribute alongside the Fabric Team to understand the implementation of new fabric processes and best practise to support ASOS Retail Strategy
  • Increase customer confidence and trust through consistency within our supply chain working closely across the Fabric Sourcing and Technical functions.

We’d love to meet, someone who…

  • Experience in sustainability including supplier engagement, water and carbon strategies, supply chain transparency. Denim manufacture an advantage.
  • Experience in an environmental consultancy or NGO and academic research and reporting
  • Can set KPIs and analyse data to propose targets and strategy
  • Can present data clearly & succinctly to a variety of retail audiences
  • Knowledge of wet processing in the textile industry
  • Excellent material and mill knowledge
  • Has excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Can present data clearly & succinctly to a retail audience
  • Can travel for work
  • Is able to work as part of a team as well as work on your own and make decisions
  • Has experience in managing a team or team member
  • Project management experience
