Melanated Magazine is making a bold return this summer, and we’re looking for a creative, self-driven Social Media Manager to help shape our digital voice and grow our online presence.

This is a freelance role with flexible hours (up to 4 hours per week)—perfect for someone who thrives in start-up environments, has a strong sense of ownership, and is ready to bring fresh energy and ideas to the table.

 What You’ll Do:

• Take full ownership of our social media accounts - Twitter and Instagram. 
• Create and schedule engaging, on-brand content using Canva, CapCut, and Premiere Pro
• Bring creative strategies and ideas to increase reach, engagement, and community interaction
• Manage a consistent posting schedule and stay ahead of social media trends
• Work closely with our small team (mostly remotely) to align content with upcoming features and themes
• Monitor performance metrics and offer insights to improve results continuously

You Are:

• A creative thinker with a passion for storytelling, pop culture, and celebrating Black voices
• Experienced in Canva, CapCut, and Adobe Premiere Pro (or confident with similar tools)
• Knowledgeable and active on Instagram, X, and TikTok
• Highly organised, reliable, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, startup environment with the flexibility to test, tweak, and try new approaches
