About: Rokit is the beating heart of London's vintage scene with a worldwide online audience and has proudly held this title for nearly 30 years. Our four stores are based in vibrant and exciting London neighbourhoods; Covent Garden houses our flagship, the vintage haven Brick Lane hosts two stores and our original bricks and mortar stands opposite the market in Camden where the brand was born one sultry summer in 1986.

The rest of the team are based under one roof in the UK's largest vintage warehouse where around 8,000 garments are processed for the stores every week, the Rokit Recycled team customise and create clothing and accessories from unusable garments alongside the website and marketing teams.

Rokit Originals is our in house label specialising in the sustainable production of new and reworked garments. We repurpose vintage clothing, utilise recycled textile and responsibly manufacture - producing in small quantities and making only in London.

Rokit Originals are looking for a new Studio Manager. They will be a dynamic leader with strong communication skills, technical ability, organisational skills and tons of creativity.  As the Studio Manager you will be responsible for the overall management of the in-house studio, being acutely aware of commercial and creative strategies and driving productivity in line with business objectives and budgets.  You will be able to react seamlessly to ever changing requirements and consistently inspire and encourage your team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take complete ownership of the department.
  • Own the design & development of new product lines; considering current surplus stock, gaps in company inventory & market trends.
  • Sew, cut and iron fabric where required, using industrial machinery, to a high level of accuracy, pace and standard of quality
  • Use a variety of industrial sewing machines for different purposes, e.g. using an overlocker, a flatbed etc.
  • Analyse sales and productivity to be reactive and make commercial decisions
  • Coordinate and manage the studio production team and operations to plan and deliver brand expectations and targets. 
  • Drive short term scheduling and long term strategic planning to ensure the efficient and cost-effective running of the studio
  • Manage budgets, costings and studio administration.
  • Stock Production - Organise and prioritise the operational running of the department to ensure we meet quantities and deadlines.
  • Oversee the distribution and allocation of the stock into both bricks and mortar stores and e-commerce.
  • Maintain an organised, clean and efficient working environment.
  • Quality Control
  • Communicate with all aspects of the internal and external business of every level in a way that allows you to build trust and engagement.
  • Manage all HR aspects of the team including recruitment, people development and performance management.
  • Lead by example and motivate the team to achieve high results
  • Adhere to company policies and health and safety procedures.

Must Haves:

  • At least a years' industry management experience within a fashion retailer
  • Project management experience
  • Proven ability of motivating and leading a team
  • Knowledge of natural fabric blends and qualities
  • Excellent hand and machine sewing skills - ability to work to high standard at pace and use a variety of industrial sewing machines
  • Strong pattern cutting skills (including grading)
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong commercial awareness with knowledge of current and up and coming trends.  
  • An awareness of trends in high street, sustainable & vintage fashion
