We are looking for a Sustainability & Compliance Executive to support the management of sustainability, product compliance and regulatory requirements across Oh Polly and Bo+Tee.

Working closely with Production, Supply Chain, Buying, E-Commerce and suppliers, the Sustainability & Compliance Executive will ensure our products, packaging and business practices meet UK, EU, US and global requirements.

This is a varied role covering product compliance, sustainability, supplier requirements and e-commerce legislation, with responsibility for keeping data and documentation accurate, up to date and audit-ready.

Key Responsibilities of the Sustainability & Compliance Executive

Circular Business Model Leadership:

  • Program Ownership: Manage and optimise circular initiatives, including Rental, Pre-Loved and Take-Back/Donate for a Discount programs.
  • Growth & Performance: Track, report, and optimise circular business model KPIs, focusing on revenue, utilisation, and stock efficiency. Develop business cases for new circular opportunities and international feasibility scoping.
  • End-of-Life Strategy: Collaborate with Merchandising and Operations on product end-of-life strategies, maintaining and advancing the waste hierarchy solution pathway, and identifying commercially viable stock redistribution channels (e.g., outlets, partnerships).

Compliance & Risk Oversight:

  • Mandatory Reporting: Lead, manage, and submit key annual reports including Streamlined Energy and Carbon Reporting (SECR), the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS - audit and annual progress), the Modern Slavery Statement, and UK Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for Packaging.
  • Tax & Governance Support: Support and oversee the annual Gender Pay Gap Report and quarterly Plastic Packaging Tax submissions. Write, update, and manage internal governance frameworks and policies.
  • Legislative Monitoring: Actively monitor, review, and prepare the business for upcoming global legislation, including EU PPWR, EU WFD, the California Textiles Act (SB 707), the EU Empowering Consumers Directive, and DDP.
  • Risk Mitigation: Conduct mandatory sign-offs and reviews for all B2B and B2C sustainability claims. Collaborate on supplier due diligence and provide risk input to protect the brand.

Reporting, ESG & CSR Management:

  • Impact Tracking: Own comprehensive environmental reporting (carbon, waste, packaging) and supplier-based social reporting. Execute collection/SKU-level impact reporting methodology for new launches.
  • Partnerships & Ratings: Manage sustainability related partnerships and strategize to improve the brand's Good On You score.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Run the Sustainability Champions program, manage the engagement and communications calendar, and oversee the Customer Engagement Survey (biannual/annual).
  • Market Insight: Conduct ongoing market research and competitor analysis on sustainability topics to inform strategy. Maintain and oversee all on-site sustainability pages and claims.

Packaging, Materials & Product Circularity:

  • Packaging Strategy: Support the packaging sustainability strategy and ensure its integration into wider business reporting. Consult on all packaging changes, supplier choices, and material decisions.
  • Product Development: Provide lifecycle, circularity, and material sourcing input during product and packaging development, advising on sustainability trade-offs.
  • Cross-Department Alignment: Act as the strategic bridge between production and marketing specifically regarding fabric and sustainability claims.

What Oh Polly is looking for:

  • BSc/BA Environmental Science or Sustainability, alternatively a Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Apprenticeship qualification.
  • Strong data analysis, communication, and project management abilities.
  • Familiarity with carbon reporting frameworks.
  • Ability to manage multiple streams of work in a fast-paced environment.
