Above Sea is an exciting UK start-up developing a premium swimwear brand specifically for women with D cup and above bra sizes.  Our mission is to create beautifully designed swimwear that combines exceptional support, comfort, confidence and style, without compromising on fashion.

We are looking for an experienced freelance technical designer to help bring our first collection to life, who shares our passion for helping women feel confident and supported.  Working closely with the founder, the technical designer will translate ideas into commercially viable products that fit beautifully and perform exceptionally. 

We're particularly interested in designers who understand that women with fuller busts shouldn't have to choose between beautiful design and exceptional fit.  We need a freelancer with proven experience in lingerie, bra-sized swimwear, or intimate apparel who understands the technical requirements of designing supportive garments for fuller busts.

Responsibilities of the Technical Designer:

• Collaborate on the creative direction of the first collection.
• Design supportive swimwear for D+ cup sizes.
• Produce technical flats and detailed design specifications.
• Advise on garment construction and support features.
• Develop or refine tech packs ready for sampling.
• Work alongside pattern cutters and manufacturers during product development.
• Recommend suitable fabrics, trims and components.
• Support the sampling, fitting and refinement process.

What Above Sea is looking for…

Required:

• Experience designing lingerie, bras or bra-sized swimwear.
• Strong understanding of fit for fuller busts (D cup and above).
• Knowledge of swimwear fabrics, elastics, linings and support construction.
• Experience preparing technical specifications and tech packs.
• Familiarity with product development from concept through to production.
• Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator or equivalent design software.

Desirable:

• Experience working with UK or European manufacturers.
• Knowledge of grading across multiple cup and band sizes.
• Experience working with premium or luxury brands.
• Understanding of sustainable materials and manufacturing.
