Phosphenes of London is looking for a strongly motivated Manufacturing Production Assistant to join the team in Dulwich, London.
From organising fabrics and raw materials to hand sewing to garment send-outs, the successful applicant will work independently within the team to assist the production process of the cutters and machinists in making the garments. There is the potential to expand and learn/assist other members of our team with cutting, fusing & sewing the garments, depending on your enthusiasm for the garment-making process.
Phosphenes of London works with high-end brands and Bridal, and specialises in small-end production of garments between 25-200 per style, along with bespoke pieces. We often have clients visit us for QC, or brides themselves visit for fittings. Therefore, we are looking for someone with good people skills and patience to communicate clearly whilst interacting with our team and clients.
We have also worked on a sustainability project and had a grant for it, which will assist in expanding our company. The project is sustainability-focused, and we aim to be among the first UK garment manufacturers to achieve 'Zero Waste' within the next 2 years. So there will be opportunities to expand within your role as we search for creative ideas.
This position is quite a hands-on role in comparison to general production positions, requiring involvement in the manufacturing process, from assisting production to the client liaison side. This role will require the successful applicant to attend the office every day.
What Phosphenes of London is looking for…
Requirements:
- Completed a degree in fashion or a similar field.
- A minimum of entry-level fashion experience.
- Good knowledge and understanding of garment construction.
- Strong hand sewing skills.
- Good computer skills
- Good people skills and patience.
- Fluent in English.
Beneficial:
- Experience with silks or delicate fabrics.
Work Environment:
- Staff are free to wear casual dress – although we are very focused on top-quality products, we have a casual work environment as our team is quite small.
