At Kiko Kostadinov, we are looking for an experienced, skilled Seamstress / Sample Machinist to join our team full-time at our east London studio.
Suitable applicants will have a strong background in menswear and womenswear garment construction, focusing on creating prototypes and samples and sewing final garments. The ability to work independently, follow patterns accurately, and produce high-quality work is essential.
Key Responsibilities of the Sample Machinist / Seamstress:
Collaborate closely with Pattern Cutters and the Workroom Manager to ensure all garments meet the highest standards, utilizing advanced finishing techniques.
Create detailed garment samples from patterns, focusing on precision in construction, fit, and finish to align with design and production requirements.
Sew garments from start to finish, strictly following pattern guidelines and employing various professional sewing techniques.
Participate in fittings for bespoke garments, taking measurements, completing alterations, and addressing any issues with garment construction.
Ensure all garments, including VIP pieces and show collection samples, are completed to the highest quality within set timeframes.
Provide constructive feedback on garment construction during the sample-making process to enhance production efficiency.
Work independently to meet deadlines while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
Operate industrial sewing machines and tools effectively to achieve a luxury finish.
Support the team in resolving technical challenges to ensure the final product meets both creative and functional expectations.
What Kiko Kostadinov is looking for:
A minimum of 3 years of sewing experience within the premium/luxury industry.
Proficient in precisely sewing garments from start to finish, adhering to patterns and specifications.
Possesses a comprehensive understanding of both womenswear and menswear garment construction, as well as the characteristics of various fabric types.
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality finishes.
In-depth knowledge of industrial sewing machines and various sewing techniques.
Excellent team player.
Highly organised.
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while managing multiple tasks effectively.
Ideally, experience working with a wide range of materials, from delicate, fluid fabrics to more robust options like wool and leather.
Tailoring experience is a plus.
