30 West Uniforms is seeking a freelance designer to provide inspiration for our airline crew uniforms, with the possibility of a long-term partnership on future projects. 

The project involves creating a small number of original concept ideas for luxury airline uniforms. This is not a full design project — we want early-stage thinking only.    We are looking to develop concepts for male pilots and female cabin crew, though these may later be expanded to female pilots, male cabin crew and ground staff.

Big Picture: Our brand is defined by creating distinctive uniforms that remain refined, elegant and grounded in practicality.

Here is an outline of the project:

• We are looking to inject some new ideas into airline crew uniforms, so an awareness of what is available today will be important.
• Consistency of ideas: each concept should show a common design language throughout the pieces.
• Restraint over theatrics: Avoid costume, fantasy, or overly fashion-led ideas. Think elegant and considered, something that can withstand longevity and remain timeless.
• Provide guidance on your preferred fabric choices.
• Pilot designs must remain more restrained than crew, though they should still feel distinct from the blue or black blazers with silver or gold stripes that have long defined the category.

The Designer will be working on the following deliverables:

• 3 visual concept directions for pilot and cabin crew
• Visual plus short rationale: each idea should be easy to grasp, with a simple explanation of what makes it interesting.
• Moodboard inspirations/fabric choices
• Moodboards and sketches demonstrating thought process.
