JM Brands is looking for a commercially minded, creatively driven, detail‑oriented New Product Developer with a strong track record of building relationships and managing key retail accounts to join the team in Marylebone, London.

In a pivotal role, the Product Developer will lead the full product development lifecycle within the Beauty division, turning trends, customer insights, creative ideas and commercial objectives into successful retail-ready ranges.  The New Product Developer will be responsible for developing best‑in‑class products, driving category growth, and supporting the commercial team in securing new and repeat business.  This will include working cross‑functionally with merchandising, product management, design, and technical teams to ensure products meet quality, cost, brand, and timing expectations.

Key Responsibilities of the New Product Developer:

  • Make the buyer’s role easier by anticipating needs, shaping proposals that drive their agenda, and thinking from the end‑consumer’s perspective.
  • Lead the creation and development of new product ranges by understanding customer DNA, commercial goals, and category dynamics.
  • Conduct market, consumer, and competitor research to identify opportunities and strengthen customer proposals.
  • Stay informed and maintain strong knowledge of Beauty trends and developments within the beauty industry, including emerging brands, product trends and innovations, and apply this insight to shape creative concepts and
  • guide NPD strategy.
  • Create insight-led product concepts and translate them into clear, structured briefs for internal teams and suppliers.
  • Own and manage the NPD milestones, ensuring the critical path is maintained.
  • Oversee packaging and artwork development in collaboration with design and artwork teams.
  • Review samples and guide improvements to ensure products meet brand standards, design intent, and retailer expectations.
  • Identify trading opportunities by analysing customer performance, market behaviour, and category data.
  • Build and manage strong relationships with key retail customers, presenting concepts, leading range reviews, and securing orders.
  • Travel to the Far East (2–3 times per year) for supplier meetings, sourcing, and product development checks; meet UK customers in person on a regular basis.
  • Support process improvements across product development by strengthening documentation, workflows, and internal ways of working.
  • Contribute to customer pitches, brand development projects, and wider category initiatives as required.

What JM Brands is looking for:

  • At least 3 years' experience in product development within beauty and personal care.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to balance creativity, cost, and customer expectations.
  • Excellent organisational and project‑management skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with confidence in presenting to customers and influencing stakeholders.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, ensuring accuracy across specifications and relevant documentation.
  • Experience with Bath and Body and Skincare is a plus
