The role of Buying Assistant

A Buying Assistant role at Harrods is perfect for someone creative with a keen eye for trends, a strong analytical mindset, and a desire to contribute to the success of a prestigious luxury retail business.

The Buying Assistant will be responsible for supporting the Buying team, helping to drive commercial performance and enhance the customer experience.  This will include working across multiple channels, including in-store, online, and regional locations, assisting with product selection, trend analysis, order management, and stakeholder collaboration.

Responsibilities of the Buying Assistant will include:

• Assist in creating seasonal Look Books, showcasing key trends and product selections.
• Conduct market research and competitor analysis to inform buying decisions.
• Support the Buyer and Assistant Buyer in selecting and quantifying product orders.
• Work closely with the Retail, Visual Merchandising, and Online Trading teams to ensure seamless product launches and displays.
• Manage order confirmations, vendor data, and purchase orders, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
• Provide weekly trade reports and sell-through analysis to assess brand and product performance.
• Assist with marketing submissions, including magazine and social media features.
• Collaborate with internal teams to maintain pricing accuracy and resolve invoice discrepancies.
• Depending on your role, you may be fully on-site or have a mix of on-site and home working – this is what we refer to as ‘Hybrid’. Our hybrid working policy allows colleagues to work from home for part of the week, with a minimum of three days on-site, depending on business needs.

• A passion for buying and the luxury retail industry
• Someone who keeps a keen eye on emerging trends.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
• Highly motivated
• Strong organisational skills
• Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment, ensuring seamless support for the Buying team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills – you will be engaging with both internal teams and external brand partners to drive commercial success.
• High attention to detail and strong numerical and analytical skills.
• A proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Proficiency with SAP is a plus
• Experience in a buying, merchandising, or administrative role within retail is a plus.
