The OWN Studio is looking for a freelance Sample Machinist to work varied hours with the team in London.

Key Responsibilities of the Sample Machinist:

  • Working on client bridal alterations, bespoke garments, development toiles and final samples across Bridal and Eveningwear. 
  • Operate industrial sewing machines and other equipment to assemble garments and finish them to the brands high standards and specifications. 
  • Study and understand technical patterns, and specifications provided by the Pattern Cutter, Technical and Atelier Manager. 
  • Collaborate with Atelier and Development team to workshop challenges and to feedback technical advice/improvements for production. 
  • Able to work with a range of fabrics and toWork efficiently to meet tight deadlines and production schedules.  understand their properties. Such as silk satin, duchesse, chiffon, taffeta, organza, crepe, silk mikado, lace and sequins.
  • Pay close attention to hand finishings, seam allowances and stitching techniques with attention to detail and craftsmanship. 

What The OWN Studio is looking for:

  • A minimum of 5 years' relevant work experience in bridal or luxury. 
  • Confident working across new developments, client alterations and bespoke work.
  • A positive, calm, proactive attitude. 
  • Highly detail-oriented and efficient.
