About: Helmed by designer and multifaceted Nigerian creative Mowalola Ogunlesi, MOWALOLA is the new-gen fashion brand finding critical and commercial acclaim for its progressive and playful designs – and a whole creative world that goes with it.

Mowalola seeks an experienced freelance Pattern Cutter to join during an intensive development period asap.

This is a short-term WFH/studio-based contract role lasting approximately one month (with potential flexibility based on project requirements) to support the development of upcoming collections.

The role of Pattern Cutter

Mowalola is looking for a highly skilled Pattern Cutter with strong luxury womenswear experience and confidence on Flou, primarily using jersey, organza and stretch fabrications.  This will include being able to translate design concepts into production-ready patterns while collaborating closely with the design and atelier teams.

Key responsibilities of the Pattern Cutter:

  • Create first patterns from sketches, references, and draped toiles.
  • Develop and refine patterns through multiple fit stages.
  • Work closely with designers and machinists to achieve desired silhouettes and proportions.
  • Amend and grade patterns where required.
  • Prepare patterns for sampling and production handover.
  • Support fittings and provide technical solutions throughout development.

What Mowalola is looking for:

  • Proven experience in luxury womenswear pattern cutting.
  • Strong draping and creative pattern-cutting skills.
  • Excellent understanding of stretch fabrics, jersey, organza, and other lightweight or technical materials.
  • Ability to work accurately under tight deadlines.
  • Experience working with complex, fashion-forward silhouettes.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Experience in contemporary or luxury fashion houses is a plus
