About: Helmed by designer and multifaceted Nigerian creative Mowalola Ogunlesi, MOWALOLA is the new-gen fashion brand finding critical and commercial acclaim for its progressive and playful designs – and a whole creative world that goes with it.

With an immediate start, Mowalola is looking for a Textile Surface Designer with a strong understanding of print, textile development and garment surface treatments, with an experimental and hands-on approach.  As an initial two-month role with the potential for long-term extension, the role will involve developing washes, textures, and fabric manipulations across ready-to-wear and accessories.

Responsibilities of the Textile Surface Designer:

  • Develop original textile, print and surface design concepts
  • Create artworks
  • Work on garment washes, distressing ideas and surface treatments alongside the studio team
  • Source and develop fabric manipulations, dye techniques and finishes
  • Prepare artwork files and communicate with suppliers/factories where needed
  • Support seasonal and ongoing creative projects across apparel and accessories
  • Research references, materials and innovative textile processes

What Mowalola is looking for:

  • Highly skilled with distressing and washes
  • Experience in textile, print or surface design within fashion
  • Strong Photoshop and Illustrator skills
  • Good understanding of fabric behaviour and print development
  • Interest in experimental treatments, distressing and non-traditional finishes
  • Highly organised, proactive and able to work in a fast-paced studio environment
  • London-based and available to start immediately
