As a Design Intern at COS, you will collaborate closely with our dynamic design team, contributing to the evolution of our brand aesthetics. Your role involves researching current trends, generating innovative ideas suitable for COS aesthetics, and translating them into clear and detailed technical sketches. In addition, you will provide valuable support in the creation of design boards, playing a key part in the overall design process.

We are looking for two design interns, one within our womenswear team and one within menswear, if you have a preference please indicate it clearly on your application. 

What the Womenswear Design Inter will be doing:

• Design research thoroughly for ideas and elevated details, and suggest new ideas suitable for the COS aesthetics.
• Support in creating design boards that show the designers' direction and vision.
• Work creatively with the design team. Drape on the mannequin, customize garments, and stitch toiles.
• Produce clear and detailed technical sketches using Adobe Illustrator and update as needed.
• Update the collection overviews and assist with color ups.
• Photograph and log any research or inspiration samples bought.

Learning outcomes:

• Gain an understanding of the design and product development process from concept to final production within a high-end high street brand.
• Develop technical knowledge across multiple product categories: Wovens, Knitwear, and Jersey.
• Learn about fabric development, including composition, sustainability, and price.
• Learn how to champion sustainability and uphold high-quality standards.
• Experience how to collaborate with Buying and Pattern teams.

• Fashion design degree/qualification specialising in knitwear is desired.
• Proficiency in technical drawings using Adobe Creative suite (especially Illustrator and Photoshop) ​

• A high level of awareness of current trends. ​
• Confident at sewing detailed samples.
